Beyond Jericho
Go Back

The indie-rock band Beyond Jericho, formerly known as Beyond, formed in 2002 in Langbank, Scotland.

Described as an "avant-garde voice to their generation", their engaging music focuses on Spiritually significant and scripturally relevant themes, with worshipful and thought-provoking content.

Winners of the UK Christain Broadcasting Council's Gold Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album 2006, their debut album The World Means You To God was heralded as a significant success - especially considering it was virtually all produced in-house, with the exception of the release cover sleeve design which was drawn by Miguel Vicuna, an artist from Colorado U.S., commissioned by the band.

Since 2002 there has been one line-up change. Originally Pete McFarlane played bass and features on the band's debut. album. From 2006 this role has been filled by Pete Kelly, a long-term fan of the band's music.

Not only was the band's personnel to change but shortly after, in May 2007, their name was also revamped to Beyond Jericho as a method of more uniquely identifying the indie-rock outfit. The change also echoed a real sense of refreshment and renewed purpose, as preparations started to form for the band's sophomore album release Based On A True Story.

Ready for the platform with a portfolio of fuller rock anthems the band made the decision to delay recording their second album, opting instead for the rigour of the live performance. A decision that has possibly slowed the progress of boasted early potential but a decision nonetheless that hopefully will prove beneficial when the band finds itself once more in a studio setting later this year.
